Host for the ITTF World Junior Circuit Grand Finals in early January 2015, the South American country of Paraguay is currently the home for a Developing a National Sport Structure Course.

Supported by Olympic Solidarity and organised under the auspices of the ITTF Development Programme, matters were administered locally by the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, the National Sports Council and the Paraguayan Table Tennis Federation.

Expert
Throughout the expert on duty is Carlos Esnard, the Technical Director of the El Salvador Table Tennis Federation

Itinerary
Overall the itinerary is organised in three distinct parts; the first part having taken place from Friday 20th to Monday 30th May.

Now, the second part is taking place. Matters commenced on Tuesday 19th July and will conclude on Sunday 31st July; the schedule includes a five day ITTF/PTT Level One Coach Education Course which concluded on Saturday 23rd July.

Later, for the third element will commence on Thursday 20th October and will end on Sunday 30th October; a similar ITTF/PTT Level One Coach Education Course will be organised from Friday 21st to Wednesday 26th October.

Attendance
A total of 28 students attended, being from the areas of Encarnación, Caacupé, Coronel Oviedo, Villarrica, Pedro Juan Caballeros, Caaguazú, Santani, Fernando de la Mora, Luque and Asunción.

Notably 22 members completed the required 30 hours and subsequently passed gained the required level.

A First
"This course is the first that focuses on developing table tennis in the country”, said Benjamin Real, the President of Paraguayan Table Tennis Federation. “We work with new coaches in an effort to promote and expand our sport throughout the country."

Everyone responded to the efforts of Carlos Esnard who was delighted with the response; course members were eager and responsive, keen to put theory into practice.

Added Bonus
Furthermore, for the Para Table Tennis element there was an added bonus.
On the day when the Para Table Tennis element was the focus of attention; a group of 40 students, members of a programme organised by the Ministry of Sport to help the disabled, were present in the capacity of interested onlookers.

Local Administation
The attendance added to what proved a very successful course which had been made possible as a result of cohesive administration from leading names within the Paraguayan Table Tennis Federation,

A vote of thanks must go to Benjamin Real (President), Blas Torres (National Coach), Jose Luis Mieres (Development Manager) and Andrea Sanz (Secretary).

Visits to Cities
Undoubtedly the ITTF/PTT Level One Course was very much a focal point but it was just one aspect of the visit made by Carlos Esnard. He was able to visit several areas of the country and gain an overall view of the proposals that have been designed by the Paraguayan Table Tennis Federation.

Meetings are planned for next week in the cities of Encarnación, Caacupé, Villarrica and Coronel Oviedo with a view to preparing matters for the ensuing visit in October.
